About the Producer
Wola Nani
These papier mâché bowls are produced by Wola Nani in Khayelitsha, South Africa. Wola Nani, Xhosa for "we embrace and develop one another", was established in 1994 as a non-profit organisation to help bring relief to the communities hardest hit by the HIV crisis. Formed against a background of economic curtailment on welfare spending and a huge increase in the number of HIV and AIDS cases, Wola Nani initiated programmes to help HIV positive people in the local community cope with the emotional and financial strains brought about by HIV and AIDS. Wola Nani is committed to providing a caring and developmental service that enables people living with HIV to respond positively to their status. Through counselling, care, training, increased awareness and community support, people with HIV are empowered to take control of their lives with confidence, dignity and hope. Much of what Wola Nani produce is recycled and everything is fairtrade and ethical.Product Information
